Free Drop-In Dental Sessions for Kids in Milton Keynes

Dentists in Milton Keynes are hosting a free drop in clinic for children who do not have an NHS dentist in Milton Keynes.

The drop in clinic will be held at the Hedgerows Children’s Centre Playzone in Netherfield on Wednesday 27th April; the clinic will run from 1pm until 4pm.

Dentists will provide free dental check-ups and preventative dental treatments for children who are not currently registered with an NHS dentist; parents will also be able to talk to dentists about NHS care and find out how to register with a local NHS dentist.

The drop in sessions are a valuable opportunity for children in the area to get routine and preventative dental treatment; studies have shown that children with good oral health are more likely to do well at school and poor oral health has been linked to general health problems.

Dentists will offer fluoride varnish treatments to children after the check-up; the varnish helps to strengthen and protect the teeth and can therefore reduce the risk of decay. Children will also be given a toothbrush pack and parents will be given information about oral hygiene and advice about oral health. Dentists will also be able to provide up to date information about local practices that are taking on new NHS patients.

Mel Foxall, from the Oral Health Promotion Team, said that the drop in sessions were a brilliant way of involving children and their parents in oral health and encouraging good oral hygiene habits from a very early age; she said she was looking forward to welcoming families to the event.
