Free dental products for patients who give up smoking

Sample News Big

Dentists in Deal and Dover have promised to give patients who manage to give up smoking free dental products.

The programme is being run in conjunction with NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent’s Stop Smoking Service; so far, ten dental practices have agreed to participate.

Smoking is a major contributor to serious health conditions, including several forms of cancer and an increased risk of heart disease and strokes. Each year, the number of cases of oral cancer is increasing and dentists and health officials are concerned by the statistics. Other harmful oral health conditions including gum disease, decay and hairy tongue are also linked to smoking.

In order to benefit from the free dental products, which include toothpaste, a toothbrush, dental floss and lip balm, patients must complete the NHS Stop Smoking programme.

Dentists see thousands of patients each year and the effects of smoking on oral health are obvious; in many cases, dentists offer their patients advice and information about smoking and oral health and can be the catalyst for them choosing to give up. The dentists involved in this new scheme have received specialist training from James Buckland and Ros Backham from the Stop Smoking Service; this will help them communicate effectively with patients and discuss the impact smoking has on their oral health with them.

Patients who are interested in participating in the scheme and those who are not registered with a local dentist but want to give up smoking are encouraged to contact NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent for information about the Stop Smoking Service.

A good alternative to smoking might be the Electronic cigarette. This device feels just like a cigarette and yet only contains 16 chemicals, contrary to the 4000 chemicals in regular cigarettes.
Nevertheless, it’s much much cheaper. I gave it to my father on his birthday and since then he saves around a hundred Dollars each month. He tells me its great that he can decide on his own how much nicotine he inhales (the cartridges come in 0-16 mg nic.).
My mum also loves it, because the “smoke” is mainly composed of water-vapor, so now she doesent need to send my dad outside each time he wants to smoke, haha. You can check them out on http://www.greensmoke.com/disc10-18621 , this link contains a 10% discount.
There is an upfront cost for the starters kit, but the cartridges are more than 50% cheaper than cigarettes, so in the end you’ll only save money. Try it, I cant see how you’ll be disappointed. Furthermore, they offer every customer a 30 day money back guarantee, meaning if you dont like it you can return it without having to pay any cost.

Nice ad Linda.

Although not yet proved 100% safe the ecig seems to have worked for many people however what the NHS Stop Smoking Service offers is product AND support which is proven at present to be the most succesful way to quit smoking COMPLETELY. It is not only the most successful way to quit smoking but also very cheap (either free or one prescription charge of £7:20 for the 12 week programme and product).
