Fishguard Dental Nurse Raises More Than £1,600 for Charity

A dental nurse from Fishguard has raised more than £1,600 after successfully completing the gruelling Monster Race, a combination of obstacles and challenges including swimming in icy water, trudging through mud and climbing over walls.

Pauline Barnett from Vergam Dental Practice took up running two years ago, but this was the first time she had taken on anything like the Monster Race. Pauline decided to apply for the race in a bid to do something different to raise money for four charities close to her heart: TOFS, the Paul Sartori Foundation, the Epilepsy Society and Unique.

Pauline, 60, said that the Monster Race was incredibly difficult, especially swimming through icy water. But she was delighted to complete the challenge and raise valuable funds for four worthy causes.

In total, Pauline raised £1,640 and the money will be split equally between the four charities.

Pauline thanked all her colleagues and patients at the practice and also her friends and family for their generous donations.
