An established dental practice based in Marchmont, Edinburgh, has new owners.

The owners of Links Dental Practice, dentists Edward Ross and Iain Stewart, have sold the business to Mark Skimming, from Pain Free Dentistry Group. The acquisition was overseen by Christie & Co.

Links Dental Practice opened in 1993. Mr Ross, the original owner, was joined by Mr Stewart in 2004. The pair had become friends after working next to each other for several years after Mr Stewart opened a practice next door to Links Dental in 1999. The practice grew from a two to a four-surgery clinic, which provided care for over 10,000 patients.

Following the merger in 2004, Links Dental Practice expanded and it is a well-established clinic with a loyal local client base. When the proposition came up, Mr Skimming was immediately interested and now, the trio is looking forward to working together to build on the success of the business.

The previous owners, Mr Ross and Mr Stewart, will be staying on at the practice as associates, which will enable them to devote their time to treating patients while stepping back from management duties.

Mr Skimming said that he was delighted to add the practice to the Pain Free Dentistry Group portfolio. The firm, which is based in Glasgow, was looking for opportunities and Links Dental Practice was a perfect fit. The team is now looking forward to working with Iain and Edward to develop the practice and continue providing first-class dental care for thousands of local residents.

Paul Graham, head of dental at Christie & Co, said that it was a “pleasure” to work with Iain and Edward and to enable Mark to add “another quality site” to the Pain Free Dentistry Group portfolio.
