A dental practice in East Kilbride is set for expansion after receiving funding from Barclays.

The new owner of Calderwood Dental has secured funding, which will enable the practice to hire new members of staff and extend the treatment list. As part of the growth plan, Alexandra Young, a dentist at the practice, will take over ownership. Alexandra has worked at the practice for nine years, and when the current owners decided to sell, she sought advice from Barclays and has now successfully acquired the business.

Demand for dental treatment is increasing in the local area, and Alexandra wanted to capitalise on the growth of the market to develop the practice and modernise the treatment list in line with consumer trends and preferences.

Having been given the green light, Alexandra has now revealed ambitious plans to recruit an extra dentist and a dental nurse. She is also hoping to renovate and modernise the clinic and to offer new services in a bid to broaden the customer base.

Speaking about the practice, Alexandra said that she was incredibly excited about the future and what it holds for Calderwood Dental. The financial support provided by Barclays has enabled Alexandra to take over the reins, and she is now looking forward to working with the team to take the business forward and make the most of opportunities to grow and develop the practice.

Head of SME Scotland at Barclays, Stuart Brown, described the future as “bright” for the practice and said that it was a pleasure to work with local businesses that have plans to expand and grow in the years to come.
