Dutch authorities are studying the dental records of missing teenager, Natalee Holloway, after a jawbone was found in Aruba.

Natalee Holloway, from Mountain Brook, Alabama, was just 18 when she disappeared on a high school graduation holiday to Aruba in 2005. Natalee was last seen leaving a bar with a Dutch man named Joran van der Sloot on the last night of her trip; he has since been identified as the prime suspect in her disappearance.

Van der Sloot is currently serving time in prison in Peru after he was found guilty of murdering a 21 year old woman last May. Police in Aruba have consistently said they do not have enough evidence to charge Van der Sloot with Natalee Holloway’s murder.

Last Friday, a tourist found a jawbone on the Dutch Caribbean island and handed it to a member of staff at the Phoenix Hotel. The bone was then sent to Holland and is now being tested. Natalee’s father, Dave, said he had not received any information on the bone and there has been no official announcement about whether the bone is human; however, Dave Holloway told the Associated Press that he had been told by a forensic scientist in Aruba that the bone belonged to a human female.
