Dumbarton Dental Student Ready For New Challenge

Sample News Big

A dental student from Dumbarton is preparing for a new challenge and she cannot wait to get started. Rebecca Little, a fifth year dental student at Glasgow University is set to start work at the Vale of Leven health centre in the coming weeks.

The brand new health centre is scheduled to open on Monday 19th August and Rebecca will be providing dental treatment free of charge until she qualifies.

The 22-year-old said that the scheme, which will be in operation at the new facility, is great for local people as it enables them to get the treatment they need without worrying about fees, which may be out of their reach. The opportunity also gives Rebecca a chance to hone her clinical skills and get used to the world of work, which she will be entering full time when she finishes her studies.

Rebecca said that patients will have to wait a little longer for treatment because each stage of the treatment process is overseen by a trained dentist, but the services are available free of charge and most people are happy to spend a bit longer in the dental chair in exchange for free treatment.

The services are available for patients who are not registered with a dentist and fulfill qualifying criteria.
