Drop-in Dental Sessions for Kids in Milton Keynes

Children in Milton Keynes are being invited to attend dental drop-in sessions at Sure Start centres across the town.

The drop-in sessions are free of charge and enable children to have a dental check-up without having to make an appointment. Dental teams are targeting children who do not currently have an NHS dentist and are eager to chat to children and parents about the importance of good oral health, as well as providing examinations.

Mel Foxall, a representative of the Oral Health Promotion Team, said that the drop-in sessions were an ideal way for children who do not currently have an NHS dentist to have a routine check-up. She added that oral health teams were looking forward to getting communities involved in oral health and encouraging parents and children to adopt good oral hygiene and eating habits.

In addition to providing check-ups for children, dentists will also be applying fluoride varnish to children’s teeth in line with Department of Health guidelines, to help strengthen the teeth and protect them against decay. Children will also be given an oral health pack, which contains a toothbrush and information about oral hygiene and ways to keep your teeth and gums healthy.

The next drop-in session will be held on Wednesday at Daisy Chain Sure Start Centre in Bletchley and appointments will be available between 1pm and 4pm.
