‘Don’t neglect your gums’, patients are warned

Sample News Big

Patients may be forking out thousands of pounds on cosmetic dentistry, but many are neglecting the health of their gums, it has emerged.

As part of Gum Disease Awareness Week, sponsored by OralClens Natural, research has revealed that the condition affects three in four adults over the age of 35, reports Dentistry.co.uk.

It has been estimated that 90 per cent of adults will suffer from the disease at some point in their lives and half of these problems will begin during teen years.

The news source states that the disease is commonly overlooked as people focus their attention solely on the more visible aspect of their mouth.

According to Dr James Douglas, a dentist, the majority of adult orthodontic patients are solely seeking to improve the teeth which are visible when they smile.

Pointing to the corners of his mouth when he smiled, Dr Douglas told the South Bend Tribune: “Most adults I treat are just concerned about what’s going on from here to here.”ADNFCR-1374-ID-18489197-ADNFCR
