German boffins are today suggesting that fluoride-enriched toothpaste has a greater effect on your oral health if it is left on teeth after brushing.

Researchers from a Frankfurt-based health organization are arguing that it is better not to rinse off the toothpaste if you want to keep your smile white and your teeth free from cavities.

Earth Times reported that the German Informational Circle on Oral Hygiene and Nutritional Behaviour believe that leaving the fluoride-rich residue from you’re your toothpaste in your mouth after you’ve finished brushing can dramatically improve people’s oral health.

So spit after cleaning your teeth, but do not rinse.

Most dentists believe that thoroughly cleaning your teeth two or three times a day will keep most people’s mouths in tiptop condition. Could this new advice lead to a huge improvement to people’s teeth on a large scale?
