Diss dental practice submits planning application to expand into neighbouring premises

Sample News Big

The owners of a dental practice in Diss have submitted a planning application to expand into the neighbouring premises.

Diss Dental Health Centre, which is located on Mount Street, would be able to provide extra NHS places if the application was approved. The proposal outlines plans to extend the current practice into the adjacent building. If the change of use application is approved, the premises, which are now used for residential purposes, would be linked to the existing surgery.

There is currently a severe shortage of NHS dental places in Norfolk, and the team at Diss Dental Health Centre is hoping to receive the green light in order to accept new patients. The plans suggest that the two parts of the building will be linked via the existing X-ray room on the ground floor, which would also boast an accessible entrance, a reception and waiting area, a treatment room and an accessible toilet.

The demand for appointments at the dental centre currently exceeds supply, and the team is hopeful that extending the practice will reduce waiting times and enable dentists to treat more patients.

The NHS Choices website is currently not displaying any vacancies for NHS adult patients in Diss or the surrounding area.

The plans will now be reviewed by South Norfolk Council.
