Devon Children get a Lesson in Good Oral Hygiene

Sample News Big

Children in Devon were treated to a lesson in good oral hygiene last week, as a dental nurse came in to see them at South Molton Children’s Centre.

The centre, which is run by Action for Children, played host to a fun and informative session, which aimed to teach children and parents about the importance of brushing at home, visiting the dentist and sticking to a healthy diet. The children enjoyed the games and quizzes and they learned a lot. In fact, the session was so popular that the centre has asked the dental nurse to come once a term to speak to the children and their parents and guardians.

Statistics show that dental decay is one of the most common preventable childhood illnesses and with sessions like this one at South Molton Children’s Centre, kids can learn how to take good care of their teeth and reduce the risk of cavities.

Children’s service manager at Action for Children, Helen Hallam, said that the session was a great success and the children had loads of fun playing with the puppets and using the giant toothbrush to practice their brushing skills. They will hopefully take some valuable lessons home with them and take care to look after their teeth in the coming years.
