Devizes Dental Team to Learn How to Use Life-Saving Defibrillator
A dental team from Devizes is undergoing training to use life-saving equipment after the practice invested in a defibrillator.
Long Street Dental has recently invested in the defibrillator, which can save the lives of patients who have had a heart attack and staff members are now learning how to use the equipment.
Nick Flindall, principal dentist at the practice, said that in an emergency situation, every second makes a difference and having a defibrillator on site will enable the dental team to provide urgent treatment in the event of a patient falling ill suddenly. In cases where an individual has had a heart attack, a defibrillator can make the difference between life and death.
Mr Flindall said that the defibrillator represents an excellent investment and although the team is hoping that they don’t have to use it, it’s good to know that it is there.
The team will have regular training sessions to ensure that every member is familiar with the equipment and aware of how to use it. A defibrillator is used to correct the heart rhythm and it works by delivering electric shocks to the chest.
