Derby City Council has given plans to replace a convenience store with a brand new dental practice the green light.

Planning officers at the council have approved plans to knock down Bains convenience store in Littleover and replace it with a dental surgery. The shop, which is located on the corner of Rykneld Road and Haven Baulk Lane, will be destroyed to pave the way for Dental Perfection, a clinic that offers the latest cosmetic dental services, including implant treatment. The owners of Dental Perfection submitted the application earlier this year, and work is set to commence on the project soon.

Dental Perfection will relocate from Hollybrook Medical Centre to a brand new, two-storey building, which will replace the Bains store. The practice will occupy the ground floor, and the first floor will be rented out for other commercial purposes.

The local population is growing due to the development of new housing estates, and the proposals suggested that a new building would benefit the local community. The 1950’s building, which housed the Bains store, has been described as an ‘eye-sore’ and it is hoped that the new dental centre will be more aesthetically pleasing. The practice will have access to 14 parking spaces.

The new clinic will open from 8.30am until 7.30pm on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 8.30am until 5.30pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and from 8.30am until 2.30pm on Fridays.
