One of the biggest changes in the dental profession over the last few years is the increasing demand for cosmetic dentistry, it has been reported.

US dentist Dr Sandra Piefer-Tomcazk told htrnews.com that patients requirements have changed the industry.

"It is no longer a workshop for patching up broken-down teeth," she said. "It is about creating a new smile, a new life."

Another improvement is the materials used, especially in porcelain crowns, Dr Piefer-Tomcazk added.

"Nowadays they’re more highly polished, the porcelains are gentler on natural teeth," she explained.

Anaesthetics are now much more effective, she continued, claiming that the reduction in pain from treatment has led to enhanced patient ease and comfort when visiting the dentist.

In the UK Manchester-based Kissdental was recently named The Best Private Dental Practice of the Year at the Private Dentistry Awards.

The dental practice beat 450 other entrants to become the first northern England business to win the award.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18465017-ADNFCR
