Nine-year old Daisy Westgate is preparing to have her hair cut off in memory of a family friend, popular local dentist David Howcroft. Daisy’s mum, Tonina, had been a friend of David’s and when she read about his death from a brain tumour, she wanted to do something to help others suffering from cancer.

Daisy decided to have her hair cut off and she will donate it to the Little Princess Trust, a charity that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment. Daisy has been growing her hair to make sure she has plenty to give away. She will have her hair cut by hairdresser Darren Westwood in June.

Daisy admits that she is nervous about losing her hair, but she’s determined to do it and has already raised a lot of money for charity. She has seen adults battle cancer and now she wants to do something to help. Her hair will grow back and the money she makes could make a real difference to children who have been through a lot. In the first 24 hours alone, her fundraising page had already made more than £120.

David Howcroft was a very popular dentist in Worcester. He worked at Shrubbery Dental and sadly died in 2014 after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
