Dentists across America host free dental events for children

Hundreds of dentists across America are planning free dental events to celebrate Give Kids a Smile Day.

Give Kids a Smile Day is a national event, which is held in February and October. Every year dentists, dental assistants and hygienists join forces to offer free dental treatment to children in their local areas. The national event is held to help children from low income families and those without dental insurance.

Hundreds of dentists are opening their offices to children between the age of 3 and 17 at the beginning of February. Clinics are running across the country between the 2nd and 7th February and most events are being held on Saturday the 5th February.

Dentists participating in the event are inviting children to attend clinics. They will then be offered treatments including examinations, fillings, extractions and cleaning treatments, and preventative treatments may also be available at some clinics.

The Give Kids a Smile Day is a great way of helping children who struggle to get the treatment they need because their parents or guardians do not have high salaries or dental insurance policies. This year organisers and dentists are expecting a higher turnout than ever before, as an increasing number of people face difficulties paying for dental treatment. Free clinics all over America have been swamped and many people have queued for hours to get an appointment at a free dental clinic.
