Dentist Gives Kids a Lesson In Oral Hygiene
Dentist Christine Parker, from Howardian Dental Practice, helped to spread the message about the importance of good oral health during a visit to Puddleducks Children’s Nursery in Sheriff Hutton.
Christine spent time talking to children about how to brush their teeth and how to prevent gum disease and tooth decay and invited the youngsters to participate in fun, interactive sessions and games. The sessions included good and bad foods and a demonstration of how to brush your teeth properly; the children were also given a new toothbrush each to take home.
Christine was invited to the nursery by owner, Sarah Kelly; Sarah said that it is important that children are aware that it is important to brush their teeth and make healthy food choices. Sarah said that with the surgery next door it made sense to invite Christine to talk to the children and she was delighted that Christine agreed to the visit.
Sarah said that the event was a great success and everyone involved had great fun, as well as learning about a very important health issue.
