Dental Worker Swapping Barnsley For The Sahara

Sample News Big

A dental worker is preparing to leave Barnsley to participate in a grueling trek across the Sahara Desert to raise money for a good cause.

Michelle Parker, who is based at a dental practice on Peel Parade, will be trekking 62 miles across the desert with her partner, Steve, to raise money for charity. The duo will be tackling the trek over the course of five days to raise cash for Help the Heroes, a charity that is very close to Michelle’s heart, as her brother has served as a soldier for 18 years. The pair are hoping to raise £500 for the charity.

Michelle and Steve decided to join the fundraising effort after Steve spotted an advert for the trek online. Michelle said she has never done anything like this before, but is looking forward to the challenge, although she admitted to being scared of the scorpions.

Around 20 people will be taking part in the desert trek and the team will be camping out and walking through tough terrain in soaring temperatures.

To sponsor Michelle and Steve and support Help For Heroes, you can pledge money on the team’s Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/michelle-parkerwise.
