A team of 15 dental workers from practise in Widnes and Warrington are preparing to take on a seven mile walk to raise money for an 8 year old girl with leukaemia; the team, which is made up of colleagues from Taking Teeth and Signature Smiles practices will walk from Signature Smiles in Warrington to Haydock Dental Practice in St Helen’s on Saturday.

The team is lead by area manager, Glenn Curbishley, who is also the father of eight year old, Niamh; Niamh is currently receiving treatment at The Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital after being diagnosed with leukaemia.

Fundraisers are hopeful that they will reach a target of £5,000, which will be donated to Ronald McDonald House, which has provided Niamh’s family with a place to reside while she is undergoing treatment in Manchester.

Glenn said that it was “heart-warming” that so many people have come out in support of the walk and donated to the cause. He said that Niamh has had a very difficult few weeks because she suffered a seizure after returning home and then again in the ambulance on the way back to hospital and spent two days in intensive care; she is now doing better and is more energetic.

The walk, which is just over 7 miles long, will take place on Saturday 31st August and Glenn’s sister, Diana will also be running the Race for Life at Tatton park on Sunday to raise money for Niamh.
