Members of a Sheffield dental team are preparing to take on a tough challenge, to raise money for a good cause.

Three members of staff from Taptonville Dental Practice in Broomhill are preparing to take on a gruelling cycle challenge across Kenya to raise money for cancer charities. Sue Mallon, a dentist at the practice, will be joined by dental nurse, Scarlett Woodhead and receptionist, Helen Winsor to take part in the Women V Cancer Challenge, which will last for four days.

Sue had breast cancer three years ago and decided to raise money for charity. She did the Moonwalk in London and wanted to challenge herself again and raise more money so she started researching and found the Women V Cancer Challenge. The team has raised £4,000 and are hoping to reach a target of £5,000 by December. The money they raise will go to various cancer research charities, including Ovarian Cancer Action, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Breast Cancer Care.

Around 60 women will take part in the challenge, which involves a 400 kilometre cycle trek, which will take them from Mount Kenya to Lake Victoria. All donations will be gratefully received.
