A dental team from Lancashire has completed a charity walk in memory of a much-loved colleague who was sadly killed in a car accident.

Staff from Bamford Dental Practice in Rochdale walked 11.5 miles in memory of Natalie Doherty, who was killed in an accident on the M66 motorway in May 2021.

Natalie, 33, worked as a receptionist at the practice and she was a hugely popular member of the team. Natalie hit floodwater on the road and lost control of the vehicle, crashing into a tree. She leaves behind a 6-year-old son, Bobby.

The staff team wanted to do something to remember Natalie, who was only at the practice for seven months but had become an integral part of the team. Dental nurse, Robyn Reynolds, said that she fitted in instantly and everyone was very close to her and totally stunned by her tragic loss.

The team organised the walk, which stretched from the surgery to Rossendale, close to Natalie’s home, to cherish her memory but also to raise money for a trust fund for her son, Bobby. The team has already raised more than £3,000 and donations are still flooding in.

In total, 27 members of staff took part, along with some canine companions. The team took time to talk about Natalie and share stories and memories and the end of the walk culminated with her colleagues raising a toast to her.
