Dental Students To Benefit From New 3D Computer Software

Dental students are set to benefit from a new innovative training resource. NHS Scotland has confirmed that it will commission new 3D software to enable students to learn about the head and neck.

The software, which presents 3D images of the head and neck, will enable dental students to interact with the model and manipulate the different areas as part of their theoretical and clinical training. The 3D images and models are much more detailed than 2D images which mean that students will have a better insight into the anatomy. This will help them to develop the practical skills they need to treat patients with head and neck issues.

NHS Scotland has commissioned the software, which was developed at the Design Studio at Glasgow’s School of Art.

The sophisticated software will also be used by medical students.
