Sample News Big

Dental records have been used to identify the remains of a body found in the Dublin Mountains.

Local police have confirmed that the skeletal remains found on Sunday morning by walkers at Slieve na mBan Og Mountain, are those of James McDonough, a 28 year old from Dublin, who was last seen 14 months ago.

A post-mortem was carried out on the body at the City Morgue on the 10th January. Forensic anthropologist, Dr Laureen Buckley, State Pathologist, Professor Marie Cassidy and the Garda Technical Bureau, were all present at the post-mortem examination.

Mr McDonough was last seen in Bluebell, Dublin on the 27th October 2010 and police are working on the assumption that he was kidnapped and murdered, after his Mazda was found burnt out on the evening of the 27th October near Peamont Hospital. Police believe a West Dublin gang is to blame and a criminal investigation has now been launched following the discovery of the remains.
