Coroners have confirmed that dental records were used to confirm the identity of drummer, Lee Rigby, after a brutal attack in Woolwich.

At an inquest at Southwark Coroner’s Court, it was confirmed that the 25 year old was hit by a car and then brutally attacked by two men, who were armed with a knife and a cleaver. Detective Chief Inspector Grant Mellon, from Scotland Yard, said that the two men, who have now been named and arrested, then dragged Mr Rigby’s body into the road and encouraged passers-by to look at the battered body.

Mr Mellon explained what had happened, saying that footage showed the drummer walking into Artillery Place; he was then hit by a car, which appeared to swerve into his path. The two men got out of the car and started to attack Rigby, causing extensive injuries, which proved to be fatal.

A post-mortem confirmed that Mr Rigby had died from multiple injuries and stab wounds.

Michael Adebowale, 22, has been arrested and charged and he appeared in court on Thursday; he is due to appear in court again at the Old Bailey next week.

The Woolwich attack has shocked the nation and footage of people stopping to help the stricken drummer has emerged on the Internet; the same footage seems to reveal the two men revelling in their achievements. The incident has been widely condemned by the police, politicians and wider society.
