Dental Patients in the Dark Over Prices

Sample News Big

A survey has revealed that many dental patients are unclear about the cost of treatment.

According to the Annual Dental Survey carried out by SimplyHealth, patients are uncertain about the price of dental treatment. Almost half of those surveyed said that prices were not clearly displayed in the dental surgery and only 27 percent of patients said that they had been given a written treatment plan, which included a breakdown of the costs.

The survey also revealed that many people are worried about the cost of dental care, with 54 percent claiming that they are concerned that they will not be able to afford dental treatment in the future.

James Glover, a spokesperson for SimplyHealth, said that it was important for patients to be aware of the cost of treatment and urged patients to ask their dentist about the costs they face should they choose to go ahead with treatment.

Glover said that a lack of information about the cost of dental treatment may explain why 36 percent of people surveyed said that dental care was not good value for money. He also added that it would be helpful if dentists did more to make it easier for patients to understand the cost of care.
