Children from a nursery in Trent Road in Grantham, invited a pair of dental nurses to introduce young children to ways they can keep their teeth healthy.

The Maltings Dental Practice nurses came in to talk to the young learners at Children 1st Nursery as part of the topic “People Who Help Us”. The children talked about the things they had been taught about how to keep their teeth clean and sparkling, before taking turns brushing the teeth of Malcolm the Monkey, making sure they brushed with a circular motion.

The pre-schoolers also played a fun game where they were asked if a food would make their teeth happy or sad. They guessed correctly that junk foods like chocolates, sweets and sugar-laden drinks are not good for their teeth.

After this, the children got to dress up in dentist costumes, including masks, gloves and bibs.

The clinical lead from The Maltings, Hayley Drury, noted how important it is for children to learn oral hygiene lessons as young as possible, and that they ensured the sessions are enjoyable and fun for the children, who get to see our dentist within their own safe environment.
