Dental nurse facing the sack after selling ‘sex romp’ story

A married dental nurse from Bolton is facing the sack after she sold her story to a national weekly magazine.

Paula Jackson sold her story to Closer magazine, under the headline ‘My randy dentist offered me £100k to divorce my hubby.’ In the story, Mrs Jackson spelled out the details of a nine year affair with her former boss, 45 year old Tariq Drabu.

Drabu ended the affair with Jackson after his wife found out about the affair; she subsequently sued the dentist at an employment tribunal. Tariq Drabu was banned from practising for four months after details of the affair were released; a GDC panel found Drabu guilty of unprofessional and inappropriate conduct. Mrs Jackson told the panel that Drabu had offered her a large amount of money to quit her job and £100,000 to leave her husband.

After the hearing, Mrs Jackson said she was relieved at the outcome of the trial and glad the experience, which she claimed was “humiliating”, was over. Jackson also said she was looking forward to putting it behind her and focusing on her marriage. However, after leaving the Langley Dental Group, the dental nurse sold her story to Closer magazine for a reported sum of £1,980 and she will now face a GDC disciplinary hearing; the two-day hearing is set to take place next week.

The GDC’s Fitness to Practice panel has taken note of the story published in Closer magazine and also realises that the magazine is readily available in many stores and shops and will probably be lying around hundred of dental practice waiting rooms. Mrs Jackson is accused of bringing the profession into disrepute and behaving in an inappropriate manner. In her magazine story, Jackson provides lewd details of her affair, suggesting the couple touched each other inappropriately in front of patients; Jackson is also accused of branding a female patient a “slag” while she was sedated.

According to representatives defending the GDC, Mrs Jackson’s actions “undermine public confidence in the dental profession.” Mrs Jackson could be struck off the register if the panel find her guilty of professional misconduct.
