Dental holidays ‘becoming the norm’

Travelling abroad for dental treatment is becoming an increasing occurrence for UK citizens, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reports that Hungary, Turkey, Bulgaria, Poland and Thailand are all becoming dental tourism hotspots.

Helen Loveless reported in her column that her veneers needed replacing but her dentist did not cover cosmetic treatments.

"It might have been possible to find another UK dentist costing less, but the sums were so huge I wanted to look further afield," she said. "I quickly discovered this was a well-trodden path."

Ms Loveless claimed that after conducting her research, she found that some treatments can cost up to 70 per cent less abroad.

After deciding Budapest was the dental destination for her, she underwent a two-day whitening and bridge treatment.

She claimed she knew she was in safe hands the entire time and was extremely pleased with the end result.

In October, around 60,000 Brits searched the internet for information on dental holidays, according to the British Dental Health Foundation.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18426961-ADNFCR

I am astounded at the amount of people I know that are considering taking a dental holiday in order to whiten and improve their smile with dental implants. I can actually think of nothing better than being able to take a weekend off in europe, get my dental treatment and have a few days to relax. What a way to make a trip to the dentist pleasurable!
