A team of dental professionals from Dental Health Arlington visited elementary school students to teach them about oral hygiene and provide them with preventative dental treatments.

The team, which was made up of dental assistants and hygienists visited around thirty schools in the Arlington area, as well as one school in Mansfield. During the visits, they talked to children about oral hygiene, taught them how to brush their teeth and look after their gums and offered preventative treatments, including sealants.

The free clinics held at schools are funded by grants given to the Dental Health Arlington. For many children, this is the first experience of dental treatment and the clinics help them to learn about oral hygiene and establish a relationship with dental professionals. Building a positive relationship will help children to get used to going to the dentist and reduce the risk of children suffering from dental anxiety or dental phobia in the future.

The school clinics are designed to be fun and relaxed and staff are keen to promote oral health at the same time as ensuring children enjoy themselves. Teaching children about oral hygiene, healthy eating and visiting the dentist will help them to learn good habits and equip them with the knowledge and information they need to make positive health choices in the future.

Dental Health Arlington provides an excellent service for children in the area, giving them treatments which their parents may struggle to afford and helping them to learn about oral hygiene and general health.
