Dental Dogs Becoming More Common In The USA

Sample News Big

A growing number of dentists in the USA are employing the services of a dental dog to help ease patient anxiety.

Dentist Tracy Taddey, from La Jolla,California, frequently brings her rescue dog, Mona Lisa, into work to try and alleviate nervousness and help patients to relax. Taddey said that Mona Lisa helps patients to feel less anxious; she is a very gentle dog and she usually just curls up on the patient’s lap and goes to sleep.

Taddey first starting bringing her dog to work because she didn’t want to leave her at home alone; she never expected that Mona Lisa would become such an important and integral part of office life and provide patients with a source of comfort.

Dental dogs are becoming more and more popular; offices in North Carolina and Arizona are also using dogs to help ease patient’s worries and they are very popular with children.

Sunshine and Star are often found cuddling up to young patients at the Children’s Dental Village and they are always eager to play with the children, which takes their mind off having dental treatment.

Dental anxiety is very common in both children and adults and as dogs are commonly known as man’s best friend, it’s no surprise that many people find their company very comforting when faced with a session in the dental chair.
