Dental benefits an attractive perk for employees

Sample News Big

Many employees feel happier and work more effectively when they are offered benefit packages that include dental and healthcare, according to a survey carried out by Simply Health.

The survey showed a significant increase in the number of employees that thought that dental benefits improved morale; the figures rose from 51% in 2008 to 67% in 2010. The survey also showed that employers believed that offering an attractive dental care package contributed to staff taking fewer days off work and working more effectively; the numbers rose from 30% in 2008 to 66% in 2010.

The results of the survey also showed that most employers were concerned about their employee’s dental health and many were worried that their staff could not afford dental treatment without the benefits offered by their employer. Despite these figures, there was an increase in the number of employers that actively discouraged their employees from taking time off work to attend dental appointments; this figure rose from 4% in 2008 to 10% in 2010.

According to the participants of the Simply Health survey, providing a comprehensive care package gives employers more influence regarding when appointments are made and leads to a significant decrease in the amount of time employees take off as a result of dental health problems; more than 40% of employers confirmed they had seen a significant reduction in the number of employees taking time off.
