Cumbria Dental Practices Join Forces To Provide Training Opportunities

Sample News Big

Two dental practices in Cumbria have got together to provide better training opportunities for dentists in the region.

The initiative is being managed by the owners of Ghyllmount Dental Practice in Penrith and Spedding Dental Clinic in Carlisle. All dentists are required to attend training days and complete a set amount of continuing professional development hours and dentists, John Lewis and Jack Spedding, were eager to improve access to training for Cumbria dentists.

Five dental practices signed up for the first training day, which was held last month and John Lewis is hoping that more practices will get involved in the future. Lewis, owner of the Ghyllmount Dental Practice, said that dentists have to complete a certain amount of training per year and this initiative makes it easier for dentists to do this. The aim is to tailor the scheme to cover specialist areas, including root treatments, surgical dentistry and implantology.

Mr Spedding said that the ultimate goal is to get more dentists in North Cumbria to get involved in training attain higher qualifications so that they are able to provide patients with the best possible standards of care.
