There are just days to go until the grand opening of Birmingham’s new state of the art dental hospital and school. The Birmingham Dental Hospital and School of Dentistry are set to open on March 31st.

Construction work was completed last month and authorities have been working to facilitate a smooth transition from the existing hospital to the new facility.

Andy Harrison, project director from Birmingham Community NHS Healthcare Trust, said that the new facilities will enable Birmingham to continue to provide first-class standards of education and dental care. Patients can look forward to receiving treatment in a stylish, modern setting and they will have access to the latest technology and a vast range of specialist treatments. Students from the University of Birmingham will train on the job and have access to world-class educational facilities.

Mr Harrison thanked all staff and patients for their cooperation and patience during the construction period and added that everyone connected to the university and the hospital is looking forward to the grand unveiling.

The new dental centre spans four floors and will provide care for more than 100,000 dental patients each year. There are two separate wings, one for dental patients and the other for more than 600 undergraduate and postgraduate dental students.

Head of the School of Dentistry at the University of Birmingham, Professor Phil Lumley, stated that the new facilities will put Birmingham at the forefront of dental education and enable students to learn and train in a first-class setting.
