The National Association of Specialist Dental Accountants (NASDA) has released the figures of its 2007/2008 annual benchmarking exercise, showing that practices are getting bigger, employing more staff or generating revenue through staying open for longer.
These latest figures are illustrative of the second year of the NHS dental contract.
NHS dentists have suffered a small loss in profit, while private sector dentists have increased their annual profits. Costs have risen, with private practices spending, on average, £250,000 a year on materials etc, and NHS practices spending £220,000.
