Costa Rica has become an increasingly popular destination for medical and dental tourists.
Costa Rica has started to attract dental and medical patients from all over the world thanks to low prices and the lure of a relaxing break. The cost of treatment is considerably lower than most other countries, including the USA, the UK, Germany, Canada and Scandinavian countries and people can enjoy a holiday, as well as getting the treatment they need for a lower price than the treatment alone in their native country.
There are now specialist agencies which cater for medical and dental tourists, who organise transport and accommodation, as well as arranging the treatment. Using an agency may be beneficial because the agency can direct people towards accredited clinics and hospitals.
Dental tourism has become very popular in recent years as people look for ways to save money as travelling abroad for dental care can sometimes save hundreds or even thousands of pounds and there may be other incentives, such as shorter waiting lists. Popular destinations for dental tourism include Mexico, South America, Eastern European countries and countries in South East Asia.
