Cosmetic dentistry ‘enhances smiles’

Veneers are the favourite cosmetic dentistry procedure, according to Dr Michael Pizzo.

The Connecticut dentist told the Ridgefield Press that all cosmetic dental treatments intend to improve the patient’s grin.

"It’s basically enhancing someone’s smile," he said. "A lot of it is aesthetic, really being able to see how someone’s smile can come out."

By choosing cosmetic veneers, the shape, length, form and colour of teeth can all be changed, he added.

However, Dr Pizzo warned that the improved smile must be functional in order to be successful.

He explained that some improvements may not be possible for everyone as the bite must be acceptable.

By speaking to the patient about what they do and don’t like about their original smile, the dentist said that he can decide which materials are best to use for each person.

Regina Ford, columnist for the Green Valley News and Sun, recently described cosmetic dentistry as a "facelift" for the mouth.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18424534-ADNFCR
