Cosmetic dental work a”treat”
Cosmetic dentistry treatment can be a "treat" for some adults who are unsatisfied with their teeth, it has been claimed.
Phil Soraino, a former Army paratrooper and ski instructor, explained how at age 74, he had become so dissatisfied with having a large overbite that he decided to have treatment.
After also damaging previous dental work during parachute landings and ski falls, Mr Soraino needed his smile dramatically restored.
He said: "I’d treated my kids for years, this time I would treat myself. Everyone should do that."
Mr Soraino visited Dr Shila Yazdani, who adjusted the bite of his teeth with special computer-aided technology and treated him with crowns and veneers.
Prior to the treatment, Mr Soraino claimed he never really gave a full smile.
"I didn’t want to expose my whole mouth," he said. "Now I smile fully."
A study by the Journal of the American Dental Association has found that people aged 50and over are most dissatisfied with their smiles.
