Considering travelling abroad for dental treatment? Know the facts before you travel!

Sample News Big

A recent national survey revealed that sixteen percent of individuals are willing to travel abroad for dental treatment; this figure increased further in the 18-30 year old age group, suggesting the trend will continue. Guidance and advice are being offered to dental patients who wish to travel abroad for dental treatment. The General Dental Council (GDC)(U.K.) in conjunction with the British Dental Health Foundation, want patients to know what to check for before they travel to a different country for dental services.
This allows dental patients the opportunity to formulate opinions about their dental needs, and to become more involved in their own dental therapy. The GDC is the governing body that exists to regulate dentists in the U.K., and to make sure they are well qualified, ethical, and professional. Practicing dentists in the U.K. must register with the GDC. When a dental professional falls seriously short of the high standards expected, the GDC has the power to take action by either removing or restricting their registration. Patients should be made aware of this, and not be afraid to ask questions; if a problem arises, they should also know who to contact. Dental care varies widely between different countries, so find out the facts before travelling and/or entrusting your mouth to a dentist. By doing your homework ahead of time, you can lower the risk of dental problems in the future.

I completely agree. There are some really good dentists out there that can treat you for a low price, but there are also some useless ones. Research is key. I got my dental implants in Budapest. A friend recommended them so saved me the time of researching.
