Comedienne Rosie O’Donnell has had to cancel a number of shows after she had to have emergency dental surgery.

O’Donnell took to Twitter to apologise to fans after she was forced to pull out of a series of shows in Florida; she was due to perform at McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre in Sarasota on Friday 17th January as part of a five-weekend tour, but used the social media site to cancel the first show on Thursday.

Explaining to fans, O’Donnell said that she had flown to New York to undergo emergency treatment for a dental abscess; her message was accompanied by a series of photos showing off a swollen cheek.

She has now promised to rearrange the show as soon as she is able.

The 51 year, who starred in A League of Their Own, unfortunately had a heart attack in 2012.
