Two dental nurses from Colne are preparing for a gruelling 24 mile hike to raise money for Help for Heroes.

Leanne Walker and Kristina Bennett have both served in the forces and wanted to do something to raise money for the charity, which provides support for injured soldiers. The 24 mile trek will take place on Sunday the 29th August

The hike will begin at the British Legion at Colne round 9am. The duo will be walking through Barley, Roughlee and Barrowford and scaling Pendle Hill on their mammoth journey, before making their way back to the start point. They are hoping to complete the trek in around eight hours.

Leanne and Kristina are determined to gather as much money and awareness as they possibly can for the well backed Help for Heroes charity as it is such a worthy cause and provides such valuable support to those who have been injured or maimed whilst serving in the armed forces. Kristina was in the Navy until 2009 and Leanne served in the army until 2010.

The pair said they are looking forward to the challenge, but they are expecting it to be hard word and they will be glad to reach the end and enjoy a refreshing, well-earned drink. They thanked friends, colleagues, family members and patients for their support and generous donations and look forward to handing over a cheque to their chosen charity.
