Colgate offers financial incentive for dental patients

Colgate has announced that it will offer dental patients a 65 euro refund when they attend a routine check-up.

The toothpaste manufacturer has joined forces with the Irish Dental Association to celebrate Oral Health Month and promote good oral hygiene. Other events and activities will also run throughout the month to celebrate the campaign and the road show tour of the country, talking to people about oral hygiene, healthy eating and going to the dentist.

Peter Hatton, from Colgate-Palmolive Ireland, said that the campaign was extremely important because people need to know about oral hygiene and the important of attending routine dental check-ups. Recent studies have revealed that poor oral health can contribute to a range of serious medical health problems, including an increased risk of heart disease and strokes.

The financial incentive will come as a welcome bonus for many patients, as dental costs rise and people struggle to afford dental treatment. A 65 euro refund will help to ease the financial burden and it is hoped that this will encourage members of the public to attend routine check-ups.

As well as attending dental check-ups on a regular basis, dentists are also keen to encourage people to eat healthily and brush their teeth for at least two minutes each time; using mouthwash and dental floss on a daily basis will also help to improve standards of oral health.
