Colgate introduces two new vegan toothpaste products

Colgate has launched two new vegan toothpaste products.

As more and more people choose to follow a vegan diet, the manufacturer has introduced two new products, which have been certified by The Vegan Society.

Although Colgate is not a vegan company, The Vegan Society has assured its social media followers that both of the new toothpastes are vegan-friendly. They have not been tested on animals and do not contain any animal-based ingredients. In response to one concerned follower, who replied to a post endorsing the toothpastes, the body said that it approved individual products from businesses that aren’t cruelty-free or vegan to encourage them to produce alternatives suited to vegan buyers and potentially urge them to make wholesale changes to achieve the status of a vegan brand.

The toothpaste products, known as Smile for Good, come in Whitening and Protection forms and the packaging, which is suitable for recycling, has been made using sustainable materials.

The new toothpastes will be widely available in the EU and shoppers will start to notice them on pharmacy and supermarket shelves in the near future alongside other best-selling products.

Colgate is not the first manufacturer to produce vegan toothpastes, but it is one of the most high-profile brands to diversify its product range to cater for vegans and those keen to buy vegan cosmetics and toiletries. Other brands that sell vegan toothpaste include Moon, Dr Bronner’s, Jason Natural and Desert Essence.
