Milton Keynes Community Services’ Real Health promotion team is organising a series of free drop-in dental sessions for children who do not have a dentist.

The next drop-in session will be held on Wednesday 25th May between 1pm and 4pm at the Conniburrow Children’s Centre and another session will take place on the 22nd June at Moorlands Children’s Centre in Beanhill.

The aim of the drop-in sessions is to provide care for children who are not registered with a dentist. Staff from the oral health promotion team will also be on hand to talk to parents about registering their child with an NHS dentist and offer advice and information about oral health and oral hygiene. Staff will also be advised about local dental practices with places available

Dentists will carry out assessments and then coat the teeth with fluoride varnish, which is a preventative treatment, used to strengthen the teeth and protect them against decay. After their check-up, the dentist will give children an oral health pack, which contains a toothbrush and advice about oral health and looking after the teeth and gums.

Mel Foxall, from the oral health promotion team, said that the drop-in sessions are a great way of enabling parents to find out about oral health services and learn more about oral hygiene.
