Check-ups resume for Isle of Man dental patients

Sample News Big

Dental patients on the Isle of Man can now book a routine check-up.

Dental practices were allowed to reopen on the 15th June, but initially, general, non-emergency dental services like check-ups were not available. Teams prioritised urgent cases, but now, patients are able to make an appointment for a routine examination.

The island has not reported any Covid-19 cases since the 20th May and social distancing measures have now been scrapped. Despite the virus being under control, dental practitioners will continue to use additional PPE for some procedures.

Howard Quayle, Chief Minister, said that people can now visit dental practices as normal, but advised patients to be aware of extra measures to enhance safety. Patients will have their temperature checked and it may take time for practices to reschedule appointments that were cancelled during the lockdown.

While high street practices were closed, patients who needed urgent assistance were able to access emergency appointments at a central dental hub in Douglas. The service was run by the Department of Health and Social Care.
