Cash Boost for NHS Bolton to Clear Dental Waiting List

NHS Bolton has received a cash injection of £150,000 to help clear dental waiting lists in the area.

The trust has received extra money from NHS North West as part of funding held back for ‘one-off’ expenditures (all strategic health authorities hold back 2 percent of the annual PCT budget and this is known as the Non-Recurrent Fund).

NHS Bolton has confirmed that it has successfully made a bid to secure £150,000 from the fund to reduce the dental waiting list by 2,000 people.

The scheme to reduce the waiting list was launched in November and it is hoped that 2,000 patients will be registered with an NHS dentist in the coming weeks. The majority of those listed have already been contacted by dentists in the area and they can now arrange to join the practice and start benefiting from NHS dental services.

Representatives from the trust said that it was too early to discuss the success of the scheme as the most recent figures date from October, before the waiting list scheme was launched.
