Bupa have made changes to their dental plans in order to make them more comprehensive, it has been announced.

The insurance provider has made alterations to its group dental plan and dental choice plans in a bid to offer a better service to customers. The group plan is designed for smaller businesses, with a minimum of two employees, while the dental choice plans are tailored to suit larger businesses with more than fifty employees.

The insurance policies both have five different levels of cover, which are classified according to the range of services offered; the most basic level is core cover, which provides 100 percent reimbursement for NHS treatment. Higher levels of cover also include additional benefits including a certain allowance for private dental care, which is dependent on the level of the cover; each level will allow a different annual limit for private care.

Aside from the more obvious treatments covered by the dental plans, such as check-ups, fillings, extractions and x-rays, the new plans will also allow a certain amount of protection against oral cancer, which is increasingly common in the UK. All plans will offer up to £15,000 per year in oral cancer benefit, which can be used to pay for private treatment, overnight stays and medication which may not be available on the NHS. The plans will provide up to £50 per night for an overnight stay in hospital; however, there is an annual limit of £1000 for claims of this nature.
