Bupa Dental Care has confirmed that it will terminate its NHS dental contract in Flint.

The practice will cease to provide NHS services when its contract expires on May 31st 2022. Bupa has contacted Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board and the team is now working to find alternative providers.

Peter Greensmith, acting assistant director of North Wales Dental Service at Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, confirmed that the board has received notice of Bupa Dental’s plan to terminate the current contract when it expires at the end of May.

The board is “committed to ensuring that dental services in Flint that are subject to the notice served by Bupa are not lost to the public.” Mr Greensmith added that the board is exploring several possibilities to ensure “continuity of service.”

Currently, Bupa Dental Care in Flint is open as normal and patients have been encouraged to get in touch and make an appointment if they need to see a dentist. The practice will continue to provide NHS dental services until May 31st.

The health board will be providing updates for patients affected by the termination of the contract in the coming weeks.
