Brits ‘cannot afford dental treatment’

Sample News Big

Despite one in seven Brits admitting their teeth are in poor condition, a third have not been to the dentist in two years, a new survey has shown.

According to research by Shropshire dental firm Dentale, the reason behind the "shocking" figures is the high cost of treatment.

Even dental work which is recommended by a dentist has been avoided by a fifth of the survey respondents due to the expense.

Jason Buglass from the firm remarked: "We are one of the richest countries in the world but we are known for having bad teeth. Our research suggests that one of the main reasons for this is that people cannot afford to go to a dentist."

The research also revealed that around 1.29 million people have travelled outside of the UK for cheaper treatments.

However, the British Dental Health Foundation has warned that dental treatments abroad "can quickly turn into a nightmare" if complications occur.ADNFCR-1374-ID-18485864-ADNFCR
