Bradford Dentists Taking on New Patients

Sample News Big

Dental practices in and around Bradford are hosting open days to encourage new patients to sign up.

Twenty-eight practices in the area will be opening their doors to patients on Wednesday 12th September to encourage those who do not currently have a dentist to register. The NHS open-access days are designed to inform people about the services available to them and promote oral health.

This is the latest effort by NHS Airedale, Bradford and Leeds to target those who do not visit their dentist on a regular basis. Earlier this year, the trust used additional government funding to pay for check-ups for patients who had not been to the dentist for over 2 years.

The practices participating in the NHS open-access day will provide check-ups and a course of treatment. If booked in advance each practice will provide a maximum of 20 appointments and standard NHS charges will still apply.

Deputy director of primary care, Catherine Thatcher, of NHS Airedale, Bradford and Leeds, stated that the open days were designed to build on the success of the free check-up scheme. The scheme was in place earlier this year.

The trust is particularly eager to encourage patients who have not seen a dentist for a long period of time to make use of the NHS dental services available to them. Information about NHS services can also be found on the NHS Choices website.
